Who we are

Miʼkmaw owned. Community driven.

Glooscap Energy is owned by Glooscap First Nation, a Miʼkmaw community in Nova Scotia, through Glooscap Ventures, the communityʼs economic development corporation. Our name honours Kluskap (Glooscap), a central figure in Miʼkmaw tradition.

Every project we develop is measured by what it returns to our community: long-term revenue, opportunity and energy security for the generations to come.

We work in Miʼkmaʼki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Miʼkmaq.

Our approach

Ownership, not just participation

Glooscap Energy Limited Partnership is owned by Glooscap First Nation through Glooscap Ventures. We take real equity positions in the projects we build, so the long-term returns stay with our community.

01

Community first

We started on reserve, powering the community hall, library and daycare, and every project since has been measured by what it returns to Glooscap First Nation.

02

Majority ownership

On utility-scale projects like Weavers Mountain we hold controlling equity, alongside experienced development partners.

03

Shared regional benefit

We co-invest with municipalities and neighbouring First Nations, as at Meadowview, to build energy infrastructure that serves the whole region.
